'Bol Utho': Short Film Screening Stirs Discussions at Peshawar Press Club

A special screening ceremony for the short film "Bol Utho," which addresses reforms related to Nikkah Nama (wedding contracts), took place at the Peshawar Press Club (PPC). This event was co-organized with Shirkat Gah. As stated in an official statement released during this occasion, the movie pushes for essential changes in how marriages are registered within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Attendees included former Provincial Ombudsperson Rakhshanda Naz, Peshawar High Court lawyer Nasir Ghalezi, individuals from the legal community, representatives of civil society organizations, students, and Dr. Riffat Aziz—a part of the 'Bol Utho' movement. Zeenat Bibi, who directed both as a journalist and filmmaker, highlighted that her work centers around significant problems linked to unauthorized Nikkah registrars and general difficulties encountered throughout the marriage procedures in KP. Additionally, she stressed that the film calls upon the local administration to adopt a uniform standard form for all Nikkah Namas statewide.
